If you’ve suffered a traumatic incident resulting in dental trauma and a knocked-out tooth, the first and most important thing is to ensure the medical trauma is taken care of. Once there’s no risk to your overall health, you should book a dental appointment as soon as possible.
Possible treatments for a knocked-out tooth after dental trauma
Your tooth can still be saved even if it has been knocked out. If you can find the tooth after the incident, run it under some water and try to push it back into the socket. Take a look at this video.
If you cannot find the tooth, place a tissue in your mouth and hold it tightly to stop the bleeding. During the emergency appointment following the dental trauma, the dentist will ensure that there are no remains of the tooth left inside the jaw as this can cause inflammation. Once the wound heals, you can choose between a dental bridge or a dental implant. Our dentists will be able to provide you with a quote and a detailed treatment plan for each option.
Most commonly happening when children suffer from dental trauma, partial tooth dislodgement can be addressed with an emergency dental treatment, and the tooth can be saved.
If you suffer from tooth dislodgement, try to hold the tooth by its crown and gently place it back in its natural location. Do not push – the roots of the tooth can easily be damaged.

Do not self-medicate!
Tooth dislodgement can cause damage to the blood vessels in the jawbone. If you simply push the tooth back into place without the necessary dental treatment, a dental abscess can occur, causing severe inflammation and intense toothache.
Perhaps the most common dental trauma, cracked or broken tooth, is often overlooked, resulting in the need for extensive and expensive dental treatment later on. To avoid this, simply book an emergency dental appointment and consult your dentist for the most appropriate treatment. Here are a couple of options.
Dental bonding
For a cracked or a broken tooth, dental bonding can be a quick, easy, and inexpensive fix which will restore the tooth and its function without breaking the bank.
Dental crown
If the damage to the tooth is too big for dental bonding to be an option, you can opt for a dental crown. With on-site CEREC technology, we provide same-day ceramic crowns.
Dental veneer
If the damage is mostly to the front of the tooth, you can select between a composite or ceramic veneer.
